Phil Garrett, April 11, 2024. I like Ron DeSantis, Always have, I just never liked him quite as much as I like Donald Trump. When Ron ran for President, it was a tough choice, but I could not disavow Trump after everything the Biden administration had put him through. It was Trump. I believe the Dems (Barak Obama) rigged 2020. I believed that 2024 is a reckoning. It had to be Trump. But that didn’t mean I had anything against Ron. Ron is a great person; a great Governor and he would be a great President. To me there just has to be some way to put them on the same ticket. Oh, I know, Ron has bowed out, but that was right after Iowa but I’m sure he was still feeling the sting of defeat. And I know a Pres and a Veep cannot be from the same state, but that can be gotten around, Bush and Cheney (both from Texas) got around it in 2000.
I have looked at all the people that Trump is reportedly considering for Vice President and find some very attractive possibilities. But none as attractive as Ron DeSantis. Trump's choice has to have three things, they have to help Trump win. two, they have to help Trump govern and be loyal (this is especially important when you consider Pence never helped Trump with the heavy lifting of the Presidency, and ultimately betrayed him). Three, they have to be the rightful inheritor of MAGA. Whoever Trump’s Veep is they will be in the catbird seat for 2028, and MAGA will have to want them as their leader, or the coalition will simply fall apart. Maybe you can come up with someone else that can check all of these boxes, but I can’t, it’s Ron DeSantis.
