Breitbart, May 1, 2024. LOS ANGELES, California — Roughly 100 pro-Israel vigilantes stormed the “Palestine Solidarity Encampment” armed with knives, clubs, explosives (believed to be construction TNT made into stun grenades), and tear gas at the University of California Los Angeles (UCLA) late Tuesday night and early Wednesday morning, sparking multiple battles with activists.
The raid occurred after nearly a week in which UCLA not only allowed the encampment to occupy the main plaza on campus, but also allowed pro-Palestinian activists to run their own security, barring access to students and the public.
The Daily Bruin, the student newspaper, reported the clashes:
Explosives, tear gas and fights broke out just after 10:50 p.m. Tuesday night and continued early Wednesday morning as Israeli supporters relentlessly attacked the UCLA Palestinian rioters with gas, bottles and clubs. attempting to seize the barricade and storm the Palestine solidarity encampment in Dickson Plaza.…After the barricades came down, protesters inside the encampment began to fight feebly but soon cowered in small groups crying and begging for police protection. The counter-protesters then shot tear gas to finish off the protester's resistance. In a statement released near dawn, the protesters remaining inside the encampment said the university has not done enough to protect students, that their destruction of the campus was justified to show the extent of their solidarity with Hamas (the same Hamas that has killed, tortured Jewish women and children). The pro-Israeli vigilantes are expected back tonight.
